Description
Louise Twiggs grew up in East London in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. She studied Art through school and matric and then later at university. Louise has always had a passion for nature and the environment, which led her to further her studies in Nature Conservation. This included studies in botany and zoology which fuelled her interest in the science behind the beauty of nature. Her passion and interest in nature have developed over the years, and Louise’s love for Indigenous plants, flowers, birds and other creatures has been taken to another level through her passion for painting them. She finds great challenge in attempting to do justice to the perfection of the flowers and depicting the beauty and character of the creatures that she sees, in the precise recording of those through the mediums of Watercolour, Graphite pencil and Gouache. Louise was tutored by the likes of Ann Harris, and the late Diana Carmichael, both accomplished Botanical Artists in their own right. Her Botanical Art training shows in the attention to detail in her work. Louise describes the nature of her work as representational.
Louise has branched into teaching Art to adolescents and adults which she does from a Studio in Bryanston.
