Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colour is a genuine oil colour made from modified Linseed- and Safflower oil. This water-mixable oil paint is designed to look and work just like traditional oil paint, but without the need for hazardous solvents – simply thin the colour with water! It is especially good for artists who share a workspace or for creatives who don’t want solvents or odours in school or at home. Non-toxic and convenient to use, it also cleans up easily with soap and water.

Using Artisan oils, mediums, and varnish with a range of colours will ensure the resulting combination continues to be water mixable.

Product features:

• Water miscible oil paints.
• No volatile solvents are necessary (such as white spirit or turpentine).
• Colour depth, consistency, lightfastness, opacity/transparency and permanence are all comparable to conventional oils.
• Can be mixed with conventional oils, but will lose water-solubility so.
• Available in 37ml tubes.

Water-mixable oils dry in two stages: the water evaporates and then what is left is similar to conventional oils and dries by oxidation at a similar rate. Just like conventional oils, you still need to remember the fat over lean rule – you still need to let the painting dry completely (often 6 months) before you varnish with regular picture varnish for protection.
