Caran D’Ache Luminance 6901® Colour Pencils are artist’s pencil comprised of creamy, generous leads in a range of balanced colours with high pigment concentration. Experience strong coverage and mixing capacity, allowing for intense applications, blending, and burnishing (with a white pencil), while their extreme softness enables subtle blending, shading and gradations.
This range includes 100 different shades. Caran d’Ache also completes its portfolio with a ‘Portrait’ assortment certified 100% lightfast. This assortment includes flesh colours, warm and cold shades, as well as dark tones, making it the ideal tool for creating ultra-realistic artistic portraits of both people and animals.

- Permanent, round, coloured pencils.
- Dimensions: 3.8mm (lead diameter), 8mm (pencil diameter), 175mm (pencil length).
- Matt casing on the unsharpened tip matches the colour of the lead, colour number and name indicated.
- FSC certified premium quality Californian cedarwood.
- 4 Aqueous layers clear varnish.
- Light resistance complies with the highest international standards for light resistance in coloured pencils: ASTM D6901.
- In the 100 colours, 81 colours are classified in the best category (Lightfastness I) under standard ASTM D-6901.
- Available in assortments of 12, 20, 40, 76 colours (+ 2 Full Blender), 100 colours (+ 2 Blenders) and a Portrait set of 20.
- Also available in a wooden box containing 80 pencils (76 shades + 4 repeat colours).

So comforting to know that art produced with Luminance will remain beautiful for as long as possible! The astonishing smoothness makes it a pleasure to work with, and the richness of the colours allow easy layering. The outstanding opaqueness is particularly noticeable on the lighter colours!

I love the Luminance pencils. The 72 set consists of earthy tones, but dont let that put you off. The attached picture was done with it. These pencils are vibrant, solid, easy on your hands to hold. It has a bit of a scratchy feel to it on paper but you get a good solid coverage with it. I have done a few art pieces with it on Fabriano paper and have blended with odourless spirits (great effect). It is different from other pencils but I got so used to them very quickly. Then I must say this set has the absolute best black I have ever used! The white is opaque and great for blending, fixing mistakes and just being white. They hold their point well. I can really recommend them.

It makes my cheaper colours take backseat (I don’t use them anymore) since I’m in love with Caran D’ache.
