Tornado Vintage Metalsmith Mechanical Pencils – Retro 51

R990.00

Just as smooth as its rollerball cousin, the Retro 51 Tornado glow in the dark Dr Gray 1.15mm pencils operate with a simple twist on the top, plus there is a huge eraser on top for those who make an occasional mistake.

Retro 1951’s Tornado Vintage Metalsmith pens and pencils have a rustic, antiqued finish with historical inspirations. The Dr Gray pencil features a solid heavy-duty metal barrel lacquered with a full skeleton image displaying the names of the bones. Turn off the lights for an extra feature- the background glows in the dark leaving an eerie skeleton shadow. The mechanical pencil comes loaded with 1.15mm lead for smooth broad strokes.

Description

Retro 1951 has turned the humble pen into a design statement, proving that everyday writing can be anything but ordinary. Founded in Dallas, Texas, the brand was born from the idea that “Life is too short to carry an ugly pen,” and it’s a motto they live by with every collection they create.

Blending vintage-inspired aesthetics with contemporary craftsmanship, Retro 1951 pens are instantly recognisable for their bold graphics, playful personality, and high-quality construction. Each pen feels as good as it looks, with a reassuring weight, smooth ink flow, and just the right balance between form and function. Whether it’s the iconic Tornado rollerball or one of their limited-edition collaborations, every Retro 51 pen captures a sense of nostalgia and style that sets it apart.

Each pen arrives in a beautifully designed Retro graphic tube that’s more than just packaging, it doubles as a pen stand or travel case, keeping your favourite writing instrument ready for action.

For anyone who values individuality, quality, and a touch of wit in their stationery, Retro 1951 is a celebration of writing as an art form, and a reminder that good design never goes out of style.
