Hard Ball Ground – Scimitar

R495.00

Scimitar Hard Ball Ground is a traditional hard etching ground designed for clean, precise line work on metal plates. Its smooth, filtered formula melts evenly onto a warmed plate, creating a uniform matte black surface that enhances clarity when drawing into the ground. The opaque finish eliminates the need for additional filtration, while its firm consistency ensures reliability throughout the etching process.

Shaped into a smooth cylindrical black waxy ball, it is ergonomically designed for easy handling and application. The ground can be applied by rubbing or dabbing onto a pre-heated plate, with the option to smoke the plate for a darker surface that makes incised lines more visible.

For best results, ensure plates are thoroughly cleaned and degreased before application. Once work is complete, the hardened ground can be removed with mineral turpentine or suitable solvent blends. Depending on the thickness of the applied layer, some gentle rubbing with a soft cloth, paper towel, or newsprint may be required.

Description

From the manufacturers:

To the alchemist, everything on every plane, from the earthly to the subtle, is composed of the four elements – air, fire, earth, and water. At first glance this seems simplistic, but considered in combinations and quantities, the possibilities become open ended. And when you consider the elements under the influence of the principles of heat, cold, expansion, contraction, dampness, and dryness, the complexities and combinations become almost infinite. We here at Alchemy Art resonate with these alchemical principles. Our passion for art making and our comprehensive experience in the production of high-end paints and coatings, inspired us to develop a range of home grown quality artists materials for professional artists.
