Powdered Aquatint Resin – Scimitar

R220.00

Scimitar Aquatint Powdered Resin is a finely milled, high-purity resin designed for creating rich tonal effects in intaglio printmaking. The powder is hand-processed through a three-stage milling system, ensuring uniform particle size with no contaminants or oversized grains. This careful preparation allows artists to achieve precise, watercolour-like gradations when etching.

To use, the powdered resin is evenly sprinkled over a pre-heated metal plate, where it adheres securely, forming the basis for subtle grey-scale tones. The resin melts at 115–125 °C and can be removed with mineral turpentine or solvent blends containing aromatic hydrocarbons such as lacquer thinners. This 50 g size is ideal for smaller studios, testing, or artists who prefer to work in limited batches. Trusted for consistency, purity, and fine control, Scimitar Aquatint Powdered Resin is a reliable choice for achieving professional aquatint results.

Description

From the manufacturers:

To the alchemist, everything on every plane, from the earthly to the subtle, is composed of the four elements – air, fire, earth, and water. At first glance this seems simplistic, but considered in combinations and quantities, the possibilities become open ended. And when you consider the elements under the influence of the principles of heat, cold, expansion, contraction, dampness, and dryness, the complexities and combinations become almost infinite. We here at Alchemy Art resonate with these alchemical principles.
