Satin Black Liquid Ground – Scimitar

R475.00

Scimitar Satin Black Liquid Ground is a high-performance hard ground designed for precision and reliability in printmaking. With its satin opaque finish and smooth liquid consistency, it delivers a uniform, durable coating that resists smudging and supports clear, detailed etching results. Formulated with hydrocarbon resin, wax, solvents, and additives, this ground contains 26% solids for robust plate coverage. Its fast-drying solvents ensure quick application while the hardened finish allows for exceptionally fine line work and extended etching times without the risk of scaling.

Application: Apply cold with a supple brush or pour directly onto an inclined plate for even distribution. For best results, ensure plates are completely degreased and avoid direct finger contact before coating. Once dry, designs can be etched with a hard point and then exposed to an acid bath to achieve the required bite. The ground is easily removed afterwards with mineral turpentine or white spirits.

Description

From the manufacturers:

To the alchemist, everything on every plane, from the earthly to the subtle, is composed of the four elements – air, fire, earth, and water. At first glance this seems simplistic, but considered in combinations and quantities, the possibilities become open ended. And when you consider the elements under the influence of the principles of heat, cold, expansion, contraction, dampness, and dryness, the complexities and combinations become almost infinite. We here at Alchemy Art resonate with these alchemical principles.
