About Fabric Painting
Fabric painting is the art of decorating textiles using specially formulated fabric paints or acrylic paints mixed with a fabric medium. Artists can apply designs using techniques such as freehand painting, stencilling, or screen printing. To ensure durability and washability, the finished artwork must be heat-set—typically by ironing—so the design becomes permanent.

A fabric medium is a liquid additive mixed with acrylic paint to make it suitable for use on textiles such as clothing, bags, or canvas. It improves paint adhesion, prevents cracking and peeling, maintains the softness of the fabric, and helps colours remain vibrant after washing. This allows artists to use standard acrylic paints rather than purchasing specialised fabric paints. Once the paint has dried, heat-setting is required to lock the design into the fabric.
