Description
Explore one of the oldest photographic printing techniques with the Cyanotype Chemical Set, a creative introduction to the captivating world of sun printing. Developed in partnership with Invincible Été, a French studio specialising in cyanotype creations, this set combines traditional photographic chemistry with the freedom of contemporary artistic expression.
Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that uses light-sensitive iron compounds to produce striking blue-and-white images. By coating suitable paper or fabric with the prepared solution, arranging objects or photographic negatives on the surface, and exposing it to sunlight or another UV light source, artists can create intricate compositions with beautiful tonal contrasts. After exposure, the print is rinsed with water to reveal its characteristic Prussian blue colour.
The set contains two pre-measured chemicals: 25 g of Green Ammonium Ferric Citrate and 10 g of Potassium Ferricyanide. When prepared according to the supplied instructions, these ingredients provide up to 200 ml of cyanotype solution, allowing artists to explore a variety of creative projects.
Ideal for capturing delicate botanical silhouettes, experimenting with photographic negatives, or creating decorative artwork, cyanotype printing offers endless opportunities for artistic discovery. The included instructional booklet provides helpful guidance and practical tips, making the process accessible to newcomers while offering inspiration for experienced printmakers.
Whether you’re exploring alternative photography, experimenting with mixed media, or creating handmade prints inspired by nature, this Cyanotype Chemical Set brings the timeless beauty of traditional photographic printing into your creative practice.
Safety Note: Handle chemicals according to the supplied safety instructions. Wear suitable protective gloves, avoid inhalation or ingestion, and keep chemicals away from children, food, acids, and heat. Store the prepared solutions separately in clearly labelled containers until ready for use.
