Speedball has been a trusted name in calligraphy and lettering for over 100 years. The Bienfang story began in a loft in New York City in 1926, and since that time the brand has built a strong tradition of producing quality art papers for artists, educators, students and designers. Today, Bienfang papers are distributed under the Speedball name and continue that tradition.

 Each of the 50 sheets is printed with a practice rule and a slanted guide grid. The slant of the grid is calibrated to support the standard letter angle used in calligraphic scripts, which helps beginners develop muscle memory for consistent letterform angles from the very first session. The smooth surface is ideal for dip pen nibs and ink flow, allowing clean, consistent strokes without snagging.

At 19 lb (74 gsm), the paper is light enough for practice without wasting heavier paper, but substantial enough to hold ink without excessive bleed. The glue binding holds the pad firmly during use and allows each sheet to be cleanly removed when finished. A sheet from this pad can also be placed underneath a blank piece of paper to act as a guide sheet, letting the printed grid show through as a reference without it appearing on the final piece.

The pad is acid-free and made from 25% post-consumer recycled paper, consistent with Speedball’s commitment to responsible production.
