Gesso can be thought of as the bridge between your support (canvas, board or whatever you paint on) and the paint. Zellen Clear Acrylic Gesso is a quick-drying acrylic primer that will hold extra amounts of dry media such as pastel, charcoal or pencil. Use for art, craft and mixed media projects.
Stir well before use and then apply with a dampened foam roller or brush evenly over the surface. Allow enough drying time between coats. Apply to practically any clean surface like paper, cardboard, canvas, ceramic & glass.

This is a great product if you want to seal you project paper to add water to it. I have used inktense on my paper and there was no bleeding through and the paper didnt wrinkle. I would suggest that you just wipe with sand paper over the gesso, just to get rid of the sandy feeling, but that is if it bothers you. Great product I can really recommend it.
