Description

The original clutch mechanical pencil was first introduced in 1929. The sensitive push-button action and patented gripper tip guarantee perfect control of the lead. A sleek, extremely lightweight metal body is coated with three enamel layers in a matte black finish.

The most visible marking is the statement “Fixpencil designed in 1929”. The “Swiss Made” logo is also there, and under the clip, one can read “Caran d’Ache Fixpencil 3 Metal”, all in silver lettering.  The metal clip is solidly attached, but movable (and removable). The 3mm Caran d’Ache Fixpencil clutch pencil features a lightweight aluminium hexagonal shaped body, smooth finger grip area and has a built-in sharpener concealed beneath the push button. The sharpener is practical and produces a fine pointed lead.

Caran d’Ache was founded in Geneva in 1915 and remains Switzerland’s only manufacturer of pencils, fine arts products and writing instruments. Based in a country that is world-famous for its watchmaking and jewellery, it is not surprising that the company has earned an international reputation for products of exceptional quality and beauty.
