A fountain pen that has been left uncapped, inked with a particularly tenacious pigmented ink, or stored filled for an extended period without use, can become partially or fully blocked. This is one of the most common frustrations in the world of fine writing and technical pen drawing. The traditional remedy, flushing repeatedly with cold water, works for water-soluble dye inks but fails comprehensively with pigmented, shellac-based, iron gall, or India-type inks. These inks polymerise or precipitate within the feed channels and nib slit, creating a blockage that water alone cannot dissolve.

The Fountain Pen Cleaner’s formula breaks down the dried ink matrix within the pen’s internal components, releasing the blockage and allowing the residue to be flushed away. To use, disassemble the pen as far as the manufacturer recommends — typically removing the converter or cartridge and the nib-and-feed unit from the section.

How to use  :

• Place the nib-and-feed unit in a small container and cover with Fountain Pen Cleaner. Allow to soak for fifteen to thirty minutes for most inks, or up to several hours for severely blocked or long-standing deposits.
• Once the ink has dissolved and released, flush thoroughly with clean, cool water, dry gently with a lint-free cloth or air dry, and reassemble the pen
• Do not soak rubberised grips, lacquered finishes, or decorative inlay elements for extended periods.
• Never use boiling water with this process, as heat can damage gaskets and polished acrylic barrels.
