OLFA Mat Cutter (MC-45)

The OLFA MC-45 is perfect for cutting picture frame mounts from matting board at a 45-degree oblique angle. Either the front or the back of the mat can be cut, and non-slip rubber sheets are included to hold your ruler steady. Package includes spare blades.

OLFA Mount Board Mat Cutter with Ruler(MC-45/DX)

The OLFA MC-45/DX comes with a dedicated ruler that makes cutting mat board considerably easier. A groove in the ruler engages the cutter and non-slip rubber on the back prevents slippage, ensuring stable cutting, while the spring-loaded slider adjusts blade extension in two stages to match the thickness of the matting. The blade cuts gradually into the board under built-in spring force, leaving a clean finish with no need to manually adjust the depth of cut. No experience is needed to get good results. It handles framing materials such as matte paper and styrene board up to 7mm thick. Package includes spare blades.

OLFA Mat Cutter Blades (MCB-1)

Replacement V-shaped blades for the MC-45 and MC-45/DX mat cutters, supplied in a pack of 5. Each MCB-1 blade has two cutting edges, so a blade can be reversed for a fresh edge before replacing.

Best For: Replacement blades for OLFA mat cutters.

Usage & Care

• Place the matting on a base of corrugated cardboard or styrene board , cutter mats are not suitable as an underlay for mat cutting.
• Draw your outline in pencil first, and cut either the front or back of the mat depending on the bevel direction you want.
• Do not make an initial deep cut. Slide the blade out slightly and move the cutter back and forth several times, increasing the depth gradually with each pass.
• Over-cut the corners slightly to obtain neat corners ,corners will not finish cleanly without sufficient depth of cut.
• Make sure only one blade is inserted at a time.
• For the MC-45/DX, applying wax to the ruler groove improves the cutter’s slide.
