The Arteina Solution

Arteina’s Wall Drying Rack was designed with both function and studio aesthetics in mind. The body is constructed from varnished beechwood, a dense and stable hardwood that resists warping in the humid conditions that are common in printmaking spaces, where water-based inks and damp papers introduce moisture into the air consistently. The varnish finish seals the wood against ink splashes and gives the rack a warm, polished appearance that is at home in both a professional studio and a home atelier.

Installation and Use

Installation requires two wall fixing points and is straightforward using standard wall plugs and screws. The rotating anchor means that once fixed, the rack requires no further adjustment. For printmakers working in multi-colour editions, the twelve supports provide enough capacity to hold a full working edition of most small- to medium-format prints simultaneously, allowing the complete edition to dry in a single session rather than in batches. For larger editions or larger format work, two racks mounted side by side are a common studio solution.

The rack is equally useful for drying dampened paper before printing. In intaglio printmaking, paper is often dampened before it is run through the press to make it receptive to ink in the recessed lines of the plate. Any unused dampened sheets can be hung on the rack between sessions to keep them at an even moisture level without lying flat and developing uneven damp spots.
