Schmincke Wax Gel Medium is a high-quality acrylic medium designed to create a distinctive matte, wax-like finish while adding a tactile surface quality to acrylic paintings. It can be applied as a coating over fully dried acrylic paintings or mixed directly with acrylic colours in any ratio, allowing artists to control the degree of mattness and surface effect.

Once dry, the medium produces a soft, non-glossy appearance that is particularly useful for reducing the shine of acrylic colours. The surface can also be partially or completely buffed with a soft cloth, creating subtle variations in sheen and allowing artists to develop individual surface effects.
