Description
An all-purpose marking pencil, often called a chinagraph pencil or a china marker, is a versatile tool designed to write on almost any surface where ordinary pencils or pens won’t work. Instead of a standard wood-cased lead, it typically has a waxy, grease-based core that leaves a bold, opaque mark.
Chinagraph pencils are widely used in art, design, drafting, photography, and even everyday tasks because they can mark on materials like glass, metal, plastic, ceramics, acetate, film, wood, and glossy paper. The marks are resistant to smudging yet can be easily removed from smooth, non-porous surfaces by wiping with a dry cloth or tissue.
