Raffine coloured pencils by Chinese brand Marco are part of their artists’ range and is a popular choice for budget pencils that perform well. The barrels are slim and hexagonal shaped for a comfortable grip, with a colour dipped end that is generally true to the core shade. They’re uniform in their silver body, each one stamped in black with the Marco name and individual colour number
The pencils are oil-based, like Polychromos, but seem a little harder. To eliminate all white spots, quite a bit of pressure must be used, but with normal strokes, it still gives a vibrant colour. The oil core makes this a better pencil than other wax-based pencils in the same price range. Raffine erases well, especially if using an electric eraser
