Models PL 250 and PL 300 – Versatile Presses for Schools and Creative Use

The PL 250 and PL 300 presses are designed as reliable and user-friendly printing presses for schools, workshops, hobby artists, and beginners. These models provide an accessible entry into printmaking while maintaining solid construction and dependable performance.

Both presses feature heavy-duty, dimensionally stable cast aluminium side frames and solid steel rollers to ensure durability and consistent results. The rollers are knurled to improve grip and material transport, while pressure and roller spacing can be precisely adjusted using two large threaded spindles. This allows users to control the printing process accurately and adapt the press to different material thicknesses.

Each model is equipped with a spring-mounted upper roller that automatically compensates for uneven materials, ensuring even pressure distribution and clean, reliable printing outcomes. Suitable not only for classic linoleum printing but also for creative material printing techniques using fabric, cork, wallpaper, feathers, fur, metal, leaves, grass, and other textured materials, the PL 250 and PL 300 offer broad application possibilities.

Their smooth-running carriage systems support stable and precise operation, making both models practical and affordable alternatives to larger roller presses. While the PL series is ideal for educational and hobby environments, it still provides the quality, stability, and ease of use required for consistent printmaking results.

Model HDZ 401 – Professional Manual Printing Press for Relief and Gravure

The HDZ 401 is a high-quality, solidly constructed manual printing press developed for professional relief and gravure printing applications. Engineered for precision, durability, and smooth operation, it is ideally suited for artists, professional print studios, educational institutions, and workshops that require a powerful and versatile press capable of handling demanding techniques, including etching.

A defining feature of the HDZ 401 is its extra-long printing table, which offers generous working space for larger formats and complex print projects. The table is manufactured from thirteen-fold glued multiplex wood, ensuring exceptional dimensional stability and resistance to warping. To further enhance strength and durability, the wooden table is reinforced with a screwed-on electrolytically galvanised steel plate, creating a resilient working surface designed to withstand sustained high pressure.

The printing table glides smoothly and precisely along special coated guide strips integrated into the side panels. This friction-minimised guidance system ensures controlled and accurate movement, contributing to consistently high-quality printing results.

The side stands are produced from heavy-duty cast aluminium using a precision moulding process, providing outstanding structural integrity. A high-quality powder coating ensures durability while giving the press a professional studio appearance.

Roller pressure is generated via adjustable spindles with integrated compression springs, allowing fine and consistent pressure control tailored to the chosen printing technique and material thickness. The drive system operates through the lower roller and incorporates a gear drive mechanism, ensuring smooth, safe, and controlled operation—even at maximum roller pressure. This gear-driven transmission significantly enhances handling comfort and operational stability. Combining robust construction, precise engineering, and user-friendly handling, the HDZ 401 offers a dependable solution for high-quality relief, gravure, and etching work.

Description

The printing press range combines reliable entry-level models for educational and hobby use with a high-performance professional press designed for demanding printmaking techniques. From the user-friendly PK/PL series to the robust HDZ 401, each model is engineered with durability, precision, and practical handling in mind.

Model PK 120 – The Postcard Press – 12cm x 24cm

Small printing press for use with linoleum, wood surfaces and materials. The smallest machine in our product line, the postcard press is perfect for working in small formats up to DIN A6. It has all the features of the PL250/300  at a budget-conscious price.

The upper roller is spring supported, the lower roller is powered by a crank and is knurled to provide a better grip. Both rollers are made of massive steel. The press bed is covered with a 1 mm thick electrolytic zinc-coated steel plate. The PK 120 is delivered on a solid lacquered wooden board. Thanks to the spring suspension of the upper rollers, the press is also good for material printing with grasses, leaves, feathers, etc.

Suitable printing felts for the PK 120 include:

Model PL 250

The PL 250 Printing Press has been specially developed as a cost-effective entry-level solution for schools, workshops, hobby artists, and beginners. During its development, particular emphasis was placed on providing customers with an affordable yet high-quality press that delivers reliable and consistent results. With this model, users benefit from many of the same advantages found in the larger PL 300, while enjoying a compact format with a printing plate suitable for A4 size projects.

The press features robust side components made from heavy-duty, dimensionally stable cast aluminium, ensuring durability and long-term stability even with regular use. The lower roller is operated by a long hand crank, allowing smooth and controlled operation, and is knurled to provide enhanced grip for secure material transport. The distance between the solid steel rollers, as well as the printing pressure, can be precisely adjusted using two large threaded spindles. This enables accurate control depending on the thickness and characteristics of the material being printed. The upper roller is spring-mounted and automatically adapts to slight unevenness in the material, ensuring even pressure distribution and clean printing results.

In addition to classic linoleum printing, the PL 250 is highly versatile and well suited for material printing techniques. It can be used with fabric, cork, wallpaper, feathers, fur, metal, leaves, grass, and many other textured materials, making it ideal for experimental and creative applications. The printing carriage is constructed from a 2.5 mm thick galvanised steel sheet that glides smoothly along the connecting rods, ensuring stability and precise guidance throughout the printing process.

Model PL 300

The PL 300 Printing Press is designed as a durable and versatile device for schools, workshops, hobby artists, and beginners who require a slightly larger and more advanced system. Like the PL 250, it features heavy-duty, dimensionally stable cast aluminium side panels that provide excellent rigidity and long service life.

The lower roller is driven by a practical four-star wheel and is knurled to ensure optimal grip and smooth material transport. As with the PL 250, the distance and pressure of the solid steel rollers are precisely adjusted using two large threaded spindles, allowing fine control over the printing process. The upper roller is spring-mounted and compensates automatically for material irregularities, helping to produce consistent and high-quality impressions. Beyond linoleum printing, the PL 300 is also ideal for creative material prints using fabric, cork, wallpaper, feathers, fur, metal, leaves, grass, and similar materials.

The printing carriage of the PL 300 is particularly robust and precisely engineered. It consists of a ninefold glued wooden printing table made of multiplex, combined with an electrolytically galvanised steel plate, both equipped with stops for accurate positioning. The carriage glides smoothly and with minimal friction on four rollers, ensuring stable and precise operation. The press is supplied mounted on a sturdy lacquered wooden board for additional stability.

A newly developed lifting system for the upper roller prevents it from resting permanently on the pressure plate. This innovation not only protects the components but also significantly simplifies the insertion of the printing plate into the press, enhancing user comfort and workflow efficiency.
