Roman Szmal Aquarius Watercolour Paint is a range of artist quality watercolours, each colour made with high quality gum arabic and glycerin, linden honey, distilled water and pure pigments. The majority are single pigment paints, which ensures clean mixing and lets artists easily create their own colour palettes. These high quality pans contain a selection of natural earth pigments as well as other unique tones created exclusively by Roman Szmal.
Colours are made in small batches that allow them to be carefully checked. Every batch is tested for performance qualities: vibrancy, flowing abilities, viscosity, colour value, transparency, granulation, undertone, tinting strength, clarity and particle size. For each colour, Roman Szmal select the perfect grind to match the particle size.
Product features:
Made with high-quality ingredients.
Majority of colours are made with a single pigment for optimal mixing.
Every pan is hand filled and labelled with watercolour paper.

I bought Gamboge (hue), Green gold, Magenta, and Payne’s Grey. Here are my impressions:
1. The Payne’s Grey was sticky when I removed the pans from their packaging. The other colours were solid, so I thought to give it a day or so. It is now dry like the others. Perhaps it was still not dry before it was shipped.
2. The colours are intense, especially the Payne’s Grey. It is do dark that it obscured the black line I drew for the swatches to see their translucency. It is a cool grey, but it is hard to see the blue tone even when highly diluted. But once mixed with the Gamboge, the resulting green left no doubt on that score.
3. I liked the paints, and found them easy to activate, mix, and paint with.

My favourite Roman Szmal colour is Autumn Green. It granulates and separates into beautiful yellow / light green and blue hues.
