About R&F Drawing Oils:
R&F Drawing Oils™ combine the immediacy of a drawing stick with the permanence and character of oil paint. Developed from the concept behind R&F Pigment Sticks®, Drawing Oils™ contain less oil and more wax, creating a firmer stick that responds particularly well to drawing and direct mark-making.

The harder consistency gives artists control over lines and gestures while still depositing rich oil colour directly onto the working surface. Surface texture becomes an important part of the drawing experience: smoother surfaces encourage fast, fluid marks, while rougher surfaces grip the stick and deposit more colour.

Unlike conventional oil pastels, which do not fully dry, R&F Drawing Oils™ cure to form a permanent oil-paint film. This means finished marks do not require a fixative. Drying time varies according to the pigment, application thickness, substrate and environmental conditions because the formulation contains no added driers.

Drawing Oils™ can be used on sketchbook paper for studies and experimentation as well as on prepared paper, stretched canvas and panels. When creating finished work intended for long-term preservation, R&F recommends using an appropriately prepared surface or paper specifically designed for oil applications.

Compact, direct and expressive, R&F Drawing Oils™ offer an engaging bridge between traditional drawing and oil painting, making them particularly suited to sketching, colour studies, gestural work and exploratory mark-making.

Safety Information
R&F Drawing Oils™ can be used without solvents, reducing the hazards associated with solvent use. Some colours, however, contain pigments such as cadmiums, cobalts and chromium oxides that require appropriate handling.

Avoid ingesting pigments and contact with cuts or abrasions. Barrier cream or gloves may be used while working, and hands should always be washed thoroughly before eating or drinking after handling the product. According to R&F, additional ventilation is not required specifically for the use of Drawing Oils™.
