Description

The Tom’s Studio Nib Cleaning Solution is designed for use with calligraphy nibs, fountain pen nibs, pen feeds, and brushes. It works both as a rinse during a session and as a soaking solution for more stubborn dried ink. The dropper bottle allows for controlled application, preventing wasteful spillage.

For nibs used with acrylic calligraphy inks or Black India Ink (which contains shellac), plain water is often insufficient to remove all residue once the ink has dried. Tom’s Studio recommends soaking such nibs in the cleaning solution for 20 to 30 minutes before rinsing and drying. Nibs should always be dried thoroughly after cleaning to prevent rust, particularly brass nibs stored in steel ferrules, which can accelerate corrosion through galvanic action if left damp.

The solution can also be used to flush the internal reservoir of Tom’s Studio One-Dip-Nib and to soak the Lumos tips if ink has built up over time.
