Zellen Art Products is a proudly South African company producing various art products for the South African artist market. Amongst these products is the Zelcryl range of Acrylic Paints. These acrylics have been carefully crafted to bring out the best of each pigment, ensuring vibrant artworks, but formulated for student and amateur artists or more accomplished artists requiring large volumes of colour within moderate cost limits.

- Available in 35 colours of which there are 3 Metallic colours.
- Available in 50ml tubes (all colours) and a 100ml tube (Titanium White).

I do like Zellen as a brand I like their Oil colors more that their acrylics, some of their acrylic colors appear to be more transparent than others. When their oil colors doesn’t do that. Their oil colors will not stand in your way to learn about oils and they are even good for me in my own oil paintings I sell. I would love my acrylics to be a bit thicker, but this is only my honest opinion and others may differ.

I find that the paints are too thick and almost sticky. They aren’t easy to work with at all, you’ll need to add a lot of water or medium to the paints to make it smooth and workable, but then the paints start to become less saturated.
