The watercolour paper most prized by artists all over the world! Its 100 % long cotton fibre composition gives the paper its beauty, a natural, lasting whiteness and a distinctive touch as well as strength. Made the traditional way, on a cylinder mould, this paper has a harmonious natural grain. Thanks to this method, the fibres are evenly distributed and the paper slackens uniformly when wet, giving the artist more control. This process can produce papers with a high grammage and exceptional resistance to scratching and erasing when they are gelatin sized to the core. Only papermaking on a cylinder mould can produce paper with deckle edges.

We are so fortunate. Imagine back in the day when Rembrandt Van Rijn and other artists needed new paints for their work. No convenient art store like Artsavingsclub where you could order the world’s finest oil paints. No, you needed to be an apothecary to create paint by hand and storing the paint was a nuisance too. I admit feeling a twinge of guilt when I opened a new box of Rembrandt oil paints recently. But mostly I felt excited to try out these famous paints made by Royal Talens.
It’s difficult not to imagine the start of a school year without the mandatory new set of colour pencils – I remember so vividly how beautiful I thought the perfectly colour-arranged packets were – the barrels shiny, the lid marked where the sharp points stained it so alluringly.

Pastelmat is a premium card surface specially developed for pastelists.
