Moulin du Roy® is a watercolour paper that is manufactured on a cylinder mould. This gives the paper a uniform surface and at the same time a perfectly natural-appearing texture. The 100% cotton composition makes it both strong and highly absorbent. Its core and surface sizing allows an even pigment distribution that maintains vibrancy and transparency. Moulin du Roy® is easy to correct (very good touch-up) and is naturally white, acid-free and free from optical brightness additives for optimal preservation.

Roll Size – 130 x 915cm

Rough grain:

  • The rough grain is a very marked grain that is ideal for depicting landscapes or creating relief or depth effects. A pronounced, varied texture, great for a textured loose feel.

Cold Press grain:

  • The cold-pressed paper allows relief effects at the same time as a highly delicate finish. The lightly grained texture reflects light well, preserving the transparent qualities of the watercolour. It is the easiest surface to work on.

Recommended techniques Ideal for Watercolour

300 g/m² is the most classic weight (not too fine, not too thick). It resists tearing that may sometimes occur with more lightweight papers. The amount of water is easier to measure when using papers of a superior weight. It is a well-balanced option when all of the subtleties of watercolour have not yet been mastered.

Hot Press, Cold Press or Rough – decisions… decisions.

I have the cold press roll and despite the challenge to cut it and flatten it into usable sizes this paper is awesome and great value
