Description

Winton Oil Paints represent one of the best values in oil colour. For students, amateur painters, and professional artists using high volumes of colour, Winton Oil Colour is the ultimate high-quality yet economical oil paint.  For the price, these colours exhibit a good creamy consistency and provide permanent and remarkably light fast results.

Winton brings together the best of the Winsor & Newton paint-making tradition with modern technology. Winsor & Newton formulation, manufacture and quality control ensure a product of absolute excellence.

Rather than lessening the pigment content to create more affordable paint, Winton Oils are formulated using moderately priced pigments that still possess good covering power and tinting strength — including genuine, excellent-quality cadmium and cobalt. Where synthetic colour pigments have replaced the traditionally more expensive colours, colours are identified with the word Hue after the colour name. While Winton Oils cannot match the superior pigment load of Winsor & Newton Professional Oils, they are still much stronger than the artist-quality lines of many other brands.

Winton Oils have a more uniform consistency than Winsor & Newton Professional Oils and are slightly stiffer, offering excellent retention of brush strokes and knife marks. The gloss level varies from colour to colour, but again they have a more uniform sheen across the range as compared to the Professional line.

All colours are either AA or A-rated and are recommended as permanent for artists’ use making them suitable for mural artists.

I find that this student range has more ‘hues’ than other brands. Van Gogh by Royal Talens for instance has real cadmiums. The paint is also thicker than other brands, e.g. Daler Rowney, Van Gogh, and Maimeri. It might be due to more fillers than other student paint. Winsor & Newton also label their colours the traditional names, but add a mixture of 2 or more pigments. If one is used to paints containing only one pigment, one would find that Winsor & Newton is slightly different, it is especially obvious when mixing two or more tubes. The paint is also expensive for the size tube, due to the foreign exchange rate, which might give the impression it is more expensive due to quality. I wouldn’t recommend this paint, but would rather recommend Royal Talens, Van Gogh, Maimeri or Daler Rowney.

Amazing really good quality paints for less. These paints is the highest quality in a mid range price. I love the vibrancy these paints is so pigmented that you need so little paint to mix a certain color you want. I bought these paints for myself after i knew i have a tiny bit more skill these paints stunned me when i saw the amount of quality pigments it has.
