Schmincke Aqua Lift-Off Medium is a specialised preparation medium for watercolour paper that makes dried watercolour easier to remove, modify and correct. Applied to the paper before painting, it creates an isolating, water-insoluble film that helps prevent watercolour pigments from becoming permanently embedded in the paper fibres.

It is particularly useful when working with staining watercolours, which can be difficult to lift or remove once dry. By preparing the paper first, artists gain greater control over corrections, highlights and adjustments without having to rely solely on the natural liftability of the paper and pigment.

The medium is especially valuable for detailed watercolour work, where the ability to correct an area cleanly can make a significant difference to the finished painting.
