The wide colour strip is powdery and soft so mixing and blending are really easy and because it is encased in wood you get the pastel effect without the mess (if you can resist using your fingers to blend!).

  • Full strength colours and natural tints are available individually or in convenient tins of 12, 24, 36, 72 and Pastel skin tones set of 12
  • Skin tones set of 12 – P010 Vanilla, P580 Yellow Ochre, P030 Process Yellow, P590 Chocolate, P130 Cadmium Red, P610 Burnt Carmine, P160 Crimson, P640 Terracotta, P290 Ultramarine, P710 Carbon Black, P380 Kingfisher Blue, P720 Titanium White. These colours are part of the set of 72 pencils.
  • Easy to control for accurate drawing with less mess; 4mm wide core and round 8mm diameter barrel.
  • Derwent Pastel pencils can be sharpened for detailed work and mixed, smudged and blended for a range of effects.
  • Soft and blendable, the very fine powdery texture is ideal for both loose and detailed work.
  • Pastel is a naturally water-soluble medium and can be used with water to create light washes
  • 72 colours and Pastel skin tones 12 colours

LF – Lightfastness rating (6 – GOOD, 7 – VERY GOOD, 8 – EXCELLENT)
Derwent uses the Blue Wool test (ISO 105) to evaluate lightfastness. Lightfastness refers to the chemical stability of a pigment under long exposure to light.
A scale of 1-8 is obtained, with values of 6 or higher being considered to be highly lightfast and, under museum conditions, will not fade for 100+ years.

  1. Steamed Rabbit

Really good pastel pencils. I just wish they were softer, and they do dull quite a lot under fixative.
