The Sofft range is a new generation of tools and applicators for artists and crafters, created by artists for artists.
Sofft Tools was specifically developed for use with PanPastels, but these handy, latex-free applicators can also be used with most water-based art and craft materials to create a variety of exciting new techniques, marks and effects. Finished effects are different compared to brushes as the brush stroke is eliminated.
Sofft products are versatile, inexpensive and can be reused several times because they are so easy to clean! “Clean” Sofft Tools between colors by wiping on a dry paper towel. Once used they will be stained from the pigments, however wiping on a paper towel will remove any pigment residue. Every now and then the sponges can be washed with a mild soap and warm water, squeeze and air dry fully.
Pastels are usually all about getting your hands dirty but not with Derwent Pastel Pencils. The wide colour strip is powdery and soft so mixing and blending are really easy and because it is encased in wood you get the pastel effect without the mess (if you can resist using your fingers to blend!). They can be layered for a brighter finish, without dissolving previously dried layers, or used with Derwent’s Inktense and Metallic paint sets to create dramatic effects.

LF – Lightfastness rating (6 – GOOD, 7 – VERY GOOD, 8 – EXCELLENT) Derwent uses the Blue Wool test (ISO 105) to evaluate lightfastness. Lightfastness refers to the chemical stability of a pigment under long exposure to light. A scale of 1-8 is obtained, with values of 6 or higher being considered to be highly lightfast and, under museum conditions, will not fade for 100+ years.

Jackson’s Pastel Holder can be used for graphite or charcoal but is especially useful for when you want to use a the end of a pastel stick while maintaining control. This allows to use your expensive pastels entirely without wasting precious materials. It can also be used to prevent getting your hands dirty allowing you to change between pastels and keep clean lines. Additionally, it can be the perfect tool for those artists who find it difficult to grip and maneuver, the stick by itself. This handy tool takes a pastel, a piece of graphite or charcoal with a width of 8.5mm.
The Pastel Brush Set features 3 of Jackson’s soft pastel tools that are perfect for the application and blending of soft pastels, PanPastel and graphite powders. These short handle brushes are suitable for detail work thanks to their small and sharp tips. The soft and silicone tips allow you to smudge, soften and move colour with precision and ease.

Made from compressed rice paper, Jackson’s Rice Paper Stumps are suitable to use with pastels, charcoal, graphite, and colour pencils. The points are more accurate than using your finger to blend areas of your drawing, and the smooth surface of the rice paper ensures a polished finish. Paper stumps can be cleaned and repointed using a knife, sandpaper, or even a large pencil sharpener. Available in a set of 6 with mixed sizes to achieve maximum results.
Remember to sand the tip of the tool before blending lighter areas, or the tool might darken the surface.
